Wow. SimplyTweet has been around for 2 years. What started out as a little experiment for me and to learn how to develop for the iPhone became my full time project for quite a long while.

What's a better way to celebrate an anniversary than a new update? (Note that the update is propagating in the App store and may take a few hours to be available).

For this release, I've gone into UI touchup mode in order to make SimplyTweet look and feel better as well as ironing out a few bugs. Here are the release notes for version 3.3 (app store link):

• an improved user interface. Every theme has been modified, especially the Bubbles theme
• more text is now displayed for each line in the timeline
• added a new "Largest" text option
• added support to built-in photo viewer for plixi.com
• changing text size now updates all cached tweets (requires a restart)
• fixed a bug where adding an account to a Twitter list will cause more than 1 account to be checked
• fixed a bug where playing the push notification sound will pause the iPod app
• other stability improvements and bug fixes

 

@Stunn_ing try this: press home button twice for the task switcher to pop up. Then press and hold SimplyTweet icon and kill the app. Start again.

@DaronLWright ah. I heard about this and seen it once myself. Have failed to reproduce it though. They seem to happen together. I'm still looking out for it. But if you notice any pattern, when it might be triggered, I'd love to know and get rid of it.

@Malakai_UK you just need to open the contact (either through SimplyTweet, press the link button again, or through phone) and remove the Twitter DM field to unlink. Probably modify the notes field too if it was updated.

Starting today, Basic authentication for Twitter is deprecated. Basically, rate limits will drop by 15 every week, until Aug 31 when apps using Basic authentication will stop working. The old SimplyTweet v2 (if you got it before March 2010) uses basic authentication and will be affected. You can either upgrade to SimplyTweet 3 with rebate pricing or download the free version of SimplyTweet 3. It's fully functional, besides missing multiple accounts and push notifications, has way more functionality than the original SimplyTweet 2, such as offline caching, both old-style and new-style retweet, geotagging, etc. Do check it out.

@martynparker trends definition available when you press a trend to search. Button in toolbar shows the definition. Nice UI though.
